Outcome of Games, and Plans for Territorial Expansion

Although Germany had an advantage in the Olympic games, Hitler was still not pleased with the outcomes. Germany had the home field advantage, and competed in the most sports and athletes ("Nazi Olympics." American). Even with these advantages, Germany won less than 25% of all medals given ("Nazi Olympics." American). Hitler didn't achieve his goal of proving the Aryan race was of supremacy, which lead to to his plans for territorial expansion ("Nazi Olympics, Berlin"). First, Hitler got his men ready for war. In 1937, a year after the Olympic Games, Italy and Germany joined a pact proposed in 1936 by Hitler, to fight the spread of communism ("Adolf Hitler"). At the same time Italy joins the pact, Hitler warns his men they must be ready for war by 1940 ("Adolf Hitler"). Second, Hitler sends his troops to enter the Spanish Civil War. When Spain asked Germany for help, Constantin Von Neurath quickly said no because he didn't want it to lead to European War. Hitler disagreed. He soon told Spanish General, Francisco Franco that Germany would support Spain ("Germany"). This was all part of Hitler's plan. He saw this opportunity as a tool for success. He knew that by helping Spain, Francisco Franco wouldn't attack him in the future, and by sending his troops to fight, he could test out his commanders, tactics, and weapons ("Germany").

Conclusion

The plans that Hitler originally had to make the Aryan Race and Nazi party of superiority wasn't successful because the Jews ended up being able to compete, and different races all over the world won numerous gold medals.  Even though Hitler had full dictatorship, many people questioned his goals, and after the Games were over, people of the world still were not convinced that the Aryan race was anymore superior than other ones. Jesse Owen's was a prime example of the defeat of Hitler's beliefs. Hitler refused to medal him or even shake his hand when he won four gold medals. The worldwide controversy that Hitler caused was volumized by the 1936 Olympics because it brought the attention right on Hitler, and his beliefs.
